Prayer Tuesday:
Isaiah 9:6-7a (ESV)
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
Every time I read this passage my heart begins to rejoice! The reason? Because it is the true embodiment of Christmas. We are reminded that Jesus is definitely the reason for the season!
Peace? Even when our world is far from peaceful! We can hold true to the fact that the peace that we need and seek can only come from the Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Wonderful Counselor, Jesus!
Not even a lavishly decorated house with a beautiful Christmas tree surrounded with loved ones opening and presenting heartfelt gifts to one another can ever give total fulfillment, joy or peace. The gifts will eventually be tucked away somewhere and forgotten; the decorations will be stored; and inevitably, disappointments will happen involving your loved ones.
Now, don’t get me wrong all of these things are wonderful, but all of them are also temporal.
Our prayer for you this Christmas is for you to experience the real peace of God through His Son, Jesus; for you to receive the internal and eternal peace that comes through Christ alone. We pray that in the midst of all of your busyness, hustle, and bustle that you will intentionally slow down the pace and remember what Christmas is all about!
We pray for all of our military and their families near and abroad. We ask that they experience Your peace even when their hearts are missing their loved ones, especially those who are deployed during Christmas.
He came to this lost and sinful world for you and I. He lived and died for us. We are the reason why He came during this season. Wow! What a honor to celebrate Jesus!
May His peace, joy, hope and life giving salvation abide within us despite this chaotic world.
Merry Christmas!
