Lord Watch Over Military Children

by Tonia Gutting

Lord,

The most powerful person

the most beautiful kingdom

the most glittering life

are nothing compared to you.

You are the only One worthy of fame,

the only One deserving of everything good,

the only One who can be trusted with absolute power.

You alone are the good, beautiful, awesome Lord.

And so, Lord, help us.

In this day of all things selfie,

please help our children see all things you.

May they understand beyond their years and their culture,

may they see behind the fragile facades,

may they desire so much more than to be somebody,

may they be passionate about being your child.

Lord Help Us

As this year builds upon our military kids’ lives

and moves and deployments sculpt their days,

may they grow in you.

And as they do, may they find community.

May they be bold witnesses to you.

May they bring hope to their generation that the answers don’t lie within themselves,

but rather in a good and powerful Father.

We pray against the depression and despair plaguing so many of our youth.

And Father please thwart all thoughts of suicide throughout our military communities.

We pray for those who have lost their way.

May you continue to draw them home.

Please forgive them for believing the lies.

May our children sing your song!

We thank you, Lord, for continuing to give us children,

for the faithful hope you have for us.

May we keep pointing to you.

“‘Cause I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody

All about Somebody who saved my soul

Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing

I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus

I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus”
