Throne Room

It is here that I am at rest. It is here that I have perspective. This is where my soul longs to linger.

It doesn’t belong to me…but it does. I have only scraps to bring, but I have a place at the table, and nothing will keep me from it. I run to respond to this grand invitation, this extravagant Presence, this profound space. It is mine. It is yours, too.

The Throne Room.

“(17) Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” (18) And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary. (19) Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, (20) by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, (21) and since we have a Great Priest over the House of God, (22) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. (23) Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:17-23 NIV

The Throne Room…I have only scraps to bring, but I have a place at the table, and nothing will keep me from it.

This is where my heart belongs, yet I confess it often occupies the last place on my to-do list. I truly believe that one of the greatest tactics of the enemy is to distract me from my true address, my rightful inheritance, my intentional hope.

Entering into His Presence is my right, by His gift and invitation. His Throne Room – where I can see, and hear, and breathe in the Truth of who I am and who He is. It is this perspective that draws me into a courage that could never originate with me. Yet, NOT drawing near leaves me hungry, lost, blind, gasping for air. He beckons, but never bullies, our hearts.

“Come near to God and he will come near to you…”

James 4:8 NIV

Oh, to come near! Don’t you want to run to that place? Don’t you want to reside in the place that He died to tear the veil and open the way into? I do! He is good. He is holy. He loves you, dear ones – believe it! Receive it! Run to the Throne Room and bask in the Truth and wonder of it all.

He has set you apart to “come near” and saturate your thirsty soul in His wondrous glory and freedom. This is His lavish gift to your heart and soul.

The song I want to share with you today is the new release from Kim Walker-Smith, entitled, “Throne Room.” When I first heard it, I was so moved by the lyrics and intent. I pray that as you listen, you will be reminded to create some space in your “to-do” list to enter in, to refresh, to linger in His Presence a bit longer. And as you do, fill that empty cup once again. I know I am.

With joy for the journey,

Sarah
