A Prayer for Military Marriages

Abba Father, 

You blessed us with the union of marriage. From the beginning of creation, you designated that a man and woman should join together to form a family (Genesis 2:18-24). Since that time Satan has attacked our marriages and we have fallen prey to his lies. Yet marriage is so important that you use it to describe your own relationship to us. 

Lord forgive us for neglecting our marriages or taking our vows lightly. Where both spouses are believers, we pray that you will fill both with your love for the other. We ask that as we grow closer to you that you will draw us closer to one another. May our marriages provide a glimpse of your perfect love.

If one spouse is not a believer we ask first for a softened heart and for your salvation. For the Christ-follower we pray your love and steadfastness fill them, that they may be a witness in their marriage of your life-changing love. 

Lord, you tell us to meet together with other believers, to be in relationship for mutual encouragement. Will you please provide friendships in the form of other married couples. Send us friends that are older and wiser as well as those that are younger and in need of encouragement from us. Holy Spirit please use the trials and challenges of this life to mold us into your image. 

We ask Lord, please destroy the spirit of suicide that has invaded our homes. We ask that you restore hope to the hopeless in Jesus’ Name.
