Faith Full Friday: Heart Health

by Morgan Farr

With the start of a new year, many of us select a word of the year. Planting Roots is no different. Our word for this year is “Faithful.” As we previously mentioned last year, we will cover a different topic each month to see how God has been faithful in our lives and how we can be faithful to him.

Our topic for this month is Heart Health.

Heart Health

Did you know that February is American Heart Health Month? It is! Of course, the CDC is focused on the heart muscle, and we are talking about the workings of your heart in relationships.

Military life can often leave our hearts feeling battered.

PCS can have you leaving friends, stale duty stations can leave you lonely, and don’t even get me started on what deployments can do to your heart… but we get it. We have been there and you are not alone as you walk the military life.

Proverbs 4:23 says,

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

So this month, Planting Roots is talking about keeping your heart healthy in the context of relationships.

Faith Full Friday

Megan Rivera will be covering why forgiveness is crucial to a healthy heart and how God was faithful to her in forgiveness.

Stephanie Ward will cover why you have to be careful with boundaries.

We will expand the conversation on the Deeply Rooted Podcast on the second Wednesday of the month.

At the end of the month, we will also share a list of our favorite resources for Heart Health.

Proverbs 27:19 says,

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”

As we look at our lives and daily interactions, we want to ensure that we keep our hearts healthy while also honoring God. We want our lives to reflect His glory.
