In this week’s Sunday Prayer, Hillary and Jessica teamed up to bring us this beautiful prayer for trust in transition. Praying according to God’s names and his character is such a powerful practice.
A Prayer for Trust in Transition
by Jessica Babcock/Hillary Baggett
Dear Lord,
As the author and perfecter of our faith, Lord you have prepared me for times of transition. It often isn’t easy to make changes, to uproot our homes, and start over. But, it is also an opportunity to embark on new adventures.Â
Jehovah-Jireh
I trust your plan and all the provisions you have for us in our new home. You are Jehovah–Jireh, our Provider.
Abba Father
Help us to develop lasting friendships and gain fresh perspectives. Let this be a time to grow closer to you and to know you in a new way. You are Abba, God our Father.
El Shaddai
Enable us to trust you, God Almighty, El Shaddai, in times of transition, specifically to guard against the spirit of depression, anxiety, suicide. Cover us like a warm blanket, Jehovah Niss’i, God our Banner.
Jehovah Niss’i
Protect our minds, our hearts, marriages, and attitudes. Heal our hurts, free us from our fears as you are Jehovah Rapha, God our Healer.
Jehovah Rapha
Equip us to believe you will provide everything we need at all times. We boldly praise you in advance for godly friends for every member of the family, a healthy work environment, the right fit for volunteer or paid work, a great church family, and a community of neighbors who see us, support us, and speak words of encouragement to us while we are transitioning. We need the friend who is a woman after your own heart – brave, but not perfect.
Jehovah Shalom
Grant us peace that only comes from personally knowing you, Jehovah Shalom, God our Peace!
Jehovah Shammah
Thank you for walking with us, holding our hands, never leaving us, or turning your backs on us. You light our way as you are Jehovah Shammah, our ever-present Light.
