 Pressing in…casting out

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

1 Peter 5 7 memeThis week I want to highlight an amazing leader in contemporary worship. Tim Timmons has been leading worship for many years. But more recently, God has led him down an even more intimate path.  You see, Tim was diagnosed with an incurable type of cancer 12 years ago. It has been through this experience that Tim has learned what it really means to cast his cares upon Jesus- as a father, as a husband, and as a believer. On his website, Tim shares openly and honestly from his heart, saying…

“Cancer sucks,” he says bluntly. “So, I know it sounds crazy, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Yes, I’m ready to be healed and I’m asking Jesus for that daily… I actually live as though I will be healed at some point, but in all of the craziness of cancer there is a gift. The gift through an incurable cancer, or any other sorrow we face, is perspective. And perspective is the gift that keeps on giving.” (www.timtimmonsmusic.com)

Trust God

I hope you will take a few minutes to give this video your attention. In it, Tim shares a candid testimony and the glimpse inside the process of writing (and singing) a powerful and poignant song called, “Cast My Cares,” that is a prayer in those dark places that desperately need some hope…I pray that through listening, God would meet you right where you are and encourage your heart for whatever mountains that need moving in your life.

With joy for the journey,

Sarah

P.S. Here are the lyrics…for those of you who love to read them while you listen. (Me, too!) Just be sure to listen to the whole video, as Tim continues to share at the end as well. Be blessed…

Cast My CaresProvision

-Tim Timmons
In the middle of the night
When worry finds me
In the middle of the fight
When strength is gone
In the middle of a fire
When fear is closing in
You are, You are my song
You’re my hope, when hope is gone
I will cast my cares on You, the Almighty
I will cast my cares on You ’cause You’re good
I will cast my cares on You ’cause You love me
You love me, oh because You love me
God of glory, You are able
Through Your power, to be faithful
God of mercy, every moment
You are near to me
