Cultivating Worthwhile Weekly Bible Studies for Military Women & Groups
ROOTED Bible studies by Planting Roots are designed with military women in mind. They are short but not shallow, using only a Bible, a blank journal or notebook, and a desire to draw near to our God Most High. Whether doing this study at home or as part of a group, we hope you will gain spiritual strength as you encounter God.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_3″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_postslider layout=”posts” excerpt=”15″ category=”design” limit=”2″ lightbox=”yes” class=”” id=””][/fusion_postslider][fusion_text][/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”#6a6970″ background_image=”” background_parallax=”fixed” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”#e5e4e4″ border_style=”” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” padding_left=”0px” padding_right=”0px” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”left” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”fade” animation_direction=”right” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”0″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”default” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”20px” class=”” id=””]Challenge Accepted

“Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles and the judgments he uttered.”
1 Chronicles 16:12
Remember who God is and what he has done. Our present and future are secure in His hands.
The challenges of military life can sometimes seem overwhelming. It is common for us to get caught in our circumstances. Wisdom commands us to recall God’s faithfulness, in good times and hard times. He is always present and working in our lives, even when we are not aware of it. As we recall the past, we can often see where God was working on our behalf. Share those times with other believers so that they will be encouraged and their faith in God will grow.
The military may seem uncertain at times, but God never is. Recalling the goodness of God also helps us when we think about what the future may hold. If he has been faithful in the past, we know that he will be faithful in the future. We can walk forward knowing that God will always do what is right.
Read David’s Song of Thanks in 1 Chronicles 16:8-36
This was a happy time for David. The Ark of the Covenant was being brought back to Jerusalem. He sang and danced and talked about the goodness of God. We would do well to follow David’s example on our happy days. Remembering God’s goodness will ease your burden when challenging days come.
David encourages the people to share about God’s character. He is overwhelmed with the goodness of God and can’t keep it to himself. He knows that all the good his people are experiencing is because God is a good god. David, in verse 34, tells his people to be thankful for all that they have just remembered about God. How could they not be thankful when they remembered all God had done for them?
Think about It:
- David was specific about what God had done for his people. Why? Did they not already know what God had done?
- What attributes of God does David point out?
- Look at verses 34 and 35. Why does David want the people to thank God first and then ask for his protection?
Daily Reflections
Day 1: Memorize 1 Chronicles 16:23-24
“Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!”
Day 2: Recall God’s faithfulness
In verses 12-22, David reminds the people of God’s faithfulness. Think about some times in your life when you know God worked on your behalf. Make a list of some of the specific things God has done for you.
Day 3: Declare God’s faithfulness
In verses 23-33, David wants the people to tell about what God has done. Look at the list from yesterday and choose one item to share with a friend, your spouse, or your children. Telling what God has done for us builds our faith.
Day 4: Be thankful
In verse 34, David tells the people to thank God. Looking back at your list from day 2, spend time in prayer, thanking God for each item on your list. Thank God for being good, even if the circumstances sometimes are not.
Day 5: Ask for protection
Verse 35 tells the people to ask God for his protection from their enemies. Often, when we are recalling God’s goodness, our enemy (Satan) sneaks in with fear and doubt. Fear, doubt, unbelief, if those things start to sneak in, go back to day 2 and rehearse the list again. Ask the Lord to point out how he has been faithful THIS WEEK. Add those times to your list!
