Jehovah is immutable. He is who He always has been and always will be. He is love. He doesn’t change into a vindictive God; neither does He turn into a big teddy bear or an ATM (God I want this…. God I want that…). God is love, perfect and immutable.
When we receive orders to move, it rarely comes at a good time. Sometimes I am ready to move but other times I don’t want to move. Sometimes when those orders arrive I stomp my feet and yell “WHY?” “I am Who I am” reminds me at every place we move that He will be there.
Often times I forget that Jehovah never changes. I think that He forgets me or forgets that I need friends and a home, and yet He doesn’t change.
A friend had to remind me of this once. I was worrying about where we would live. She simply said, “Has God given you housing in the past? Yes. Then trust He will provide housing just where He wants you to be.” Ouch! That hit me in my heart of worry. Just as He was faithful in the past to give me everything I needed (not everything I wanted), He will sustain my needs today.
God wants the best for us. The path is not always easy and it will look different for everybody. When we move to a new place, sometimes I make deep friends and hate to leave. Other times it is my husband who loves our new place and hates to leave. We are on the same journey but it is how God walks with us down our path that makes us who we are meant to be.
Jehovah is with you always. He doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t forget you. He doesn’t leave you. He doesn’t change. He is Jehovah, “I am Who I am,” Yahweh.

Jehovah is immutable. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

- What story in the Bible shows that God does not change?
- How have you seen God being faithful in your life?
- What “hero” of the Bible reminds you of God’s unchanging love?

Daily Reflections:
Day 1: He is with you.
Read and memorize: Exodus 3:14
What are you going through? Is it a green pasture or a valley? Are you on a mountain top or in Death Valley? Each location that we are called to enter has good and bad points. Some last longer than others. Just remember that God is there with you.
Day 2: He is love.
Read 1 John 4:7-8
Find a journal or a piece of paper and write down all the blessings that Jehovah has given you. Start with the big things like family, health, and blessings of things. Remember times of hardship that turned into blessings and thank Him for those.
Day 3: He does not leave us.
Read Joshua 1:5-7
God has prepared a place for you. This place may be very different from what you imagined. My mind is full of ideas about the “perfect place” but He has always given me a better place. From time in the dry Mojave Desert to the beauty of living by a river in Kansas, He has always made it better than I imagined. Write down some blessings from each place you have lived or worked.
Day 4: He does not sleep.
Read Psalm 121:1-4
Whenever you start to worry–stop. Worrying does not change anything. Instead of worrying–pray. He is always with you. Remember that Jehovah does not sleep. He doesn’t tire of hearing your concerns and your fears. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I will start praying. He often brings to mind people who need my prayers.
Day 5: He is unchanging.
Read Malachi 3:6
Jehovah does not change. He does not waiver in His faithfulness. No matter what you are going through, He does not change. Make a list of things in your life that have changed or that will change. Draw a circle around your list and write “God does not change” above it.
