On April 17, 1984 President Ronald Reagan honored the sacrifices and commitment military spouses make to the readiness and well-being of the United States military members by establishing Proclamation 5184 – Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
This day is set aside as part of National Military Appreciation Month every May and is celebrated the Friday before Mother’s Day each year. This year it falls on May 12th, just a few short days from now.
America’s military spouses serve a vital role in the family by supporting our troops during mission, deployment, reintegration, rest, and everything in between.
Here at Planting Roots we have the privilege of serving with women from all walks of military life. Some of us are active duty, retired, spouses, daughters, mothers, and/or friends. Whether you are a spouse or a military member, on this May 12th we want to celebrate you! We recognize that together is always better! Our military would not be what it is if it weren’t for our spouses who are essential to the strength of our great nation.
To help us celebrate, we are holding a special, and super fun, contest! You can enter below by submitting a photo of you and your spouse in a military setting. Then on May 12th we will celebrate by debuting our first ever Military Spouses Appreciation Video with all of your fabulous pics!
One entry per person please. Winner will receive a book bundle by some of our favorite military spouses!
Enter your photo by posting it under this post, on our Facebook page, or by emailing it to website@plantingroots.net. Contest ends at midnight on Tuesday, May 9th so get your entry in today!
