The Purpose
Planting Roots has a vision that all military women and wives would be deeply rooted in Christ. We desire to do this through live events, community, and Bible-based resources. Our website, and blog in particular, are a very tangible way of doing this.

The Plan
We are looking for military women and wives who have a love for Christ, a desire to connect, are personable, and would like to share their personal experiences and Christian walk through writing. All writers must agree with the Planting Roots Statement of Faith.

Submissions can cover a variety of military-related and/or faith-based topics. Our theme for 2021 is RISE UP as we focus on Nehemiah 2:18. For 2021, we are exploring how our faith can help us rise up and overcome a variety of circumstances that threaten to knock us down. Topics are listed below with the date by which we would like to receive submissions.

  • 1 January 2021 – Finances
  • 1 January 2021 – Physical Health
  • 1 February 2021 – Parenting
  • 1 March 2021 – Transitions/Change
  • 1 April 2021 – Work
  • 1 May 2021 – Mental Health
  • 1 June 2021 – Identity
  • 1 July 2021 – Relationships
  • 1 August 2021 – Deployments
  • 1 September 2021 – Family Challenges
  • 1 October 2021 – Sin

*Posts submitted past the listed dates will still be considered for publication.

The best posts will combine:

  1. stories of when you struggled with some challenges related to the topic,
  2. elements of our military lifestyle, and
  3. how God helped you overcome.

All submissions must be between 300 and 800 words. They must be original submissions (not posted on another website or blog) that will be the property of the author for future publication, but cannot be republished on another blog or website for at least thirty (30) days after posting at Planting Roots. All graphics submitted must be taken or created by you, the author, personally or the rights must have been attained by you with proper photo credit. No links that promote your employer or business may be embedded in the body of the submission. You may submit a one to three sentence bio, picture of yourself, and link to the author’s personal blog or website to be posted at the end of the article.

The Process
Submissions may be emailed as an attachment (Word document) or copied into the body of the email. Send the email to blog@plantingroots.net.

Please include bio, a picture of you, and any suggested graphics when submitting the article. The Planting Roots Staff reserves the right to modify the graphics to match our branding. We will confirm receipt within 72 hours of receiving and let you know within a week regarding acceptance for posting. Realize that we may check grammar or may make other minor alterations, but your submission must be ready for posting when you submit it. In the event that Planting Roots receives multiple submissions on a single topic, your piece may be included in a round-up post.

Planting Roots does not pay for posted articles. All submissions are voluntary.

The People
Planting Roots loves to hear from military women and wives. We cannot wait to see what God lays on your heart to submit for our blog. We enjoy connecting women and reaching out to them with encouragement and biblical foundation so they may grow in their walk with Christ. Also, remember we may have some women reading our blog who may not know Christ as Savior. Our prayer is to reach them as well.

Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a part of the Planting Roots ministry. We cannot wait to see how God brings us together and uses us all to further His Kingdom.
