Joining in the “AMEN”

It is a grand one, for sure. But it’s an exciting one, too.

A couple years ago when I began this journey as the Worship Coordinator for Planting Roots, I went to my knees in seeking His face for what He would have me do. I knew He was calling me to something greater than myself – desiring me to be a voice calling out, inviting His worshipers to come. Calling His people to come, unashamed and unfettered, and join in a grander AMEN.

Let me explain what I mean.

First of all, let’s look at what the word, “Amen,” really means. We often say it after we pray over a meal, say our prayers, or even say it when we agree with a sermon point. Many definitions simplify it to imply a general agreement, or “so be it” to what preceded it. And though that’s basically the idea, I would argue that it is more than that.

Joining in the Amen

When you say “Amen” you are declaring an agreement, deep down in your soul, that what the Lord says He will do will indeed be accomplished.

When you say, “Amen,” you nod your head and your heart to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. When you say “Amen,” you are putting a shining bow of trust and hope that when you have WORSHIPed Him, SOUGHT His face, REMEMBERED what He has done and who He is, you will STAND on His promises and refuse to be moved from that holy hill.

When you say, “Amen” to those things…the declaration of “AMEN” becomes a mighty roar!

So, as I have sought the Lord for His vision and purpose for the worship ministries of Planting Roots, a common theme has emerged…

Invitation and multiplication

Invitation – the desire to create a space where military women all around the globe are invited to the table, with all their gifts and talents, to worship and declare the glory of the Lord displayed in their lives.

Multiplication – the call to reach out to other military women and share the vision (and permission) to join in the chorus we are singing for His glory.

Truth is, we were never meant to function as an island – alone in our gifting, isolated in our vision and purpose. No. He doesn’t give good gifts so that we can shut ourselves in a closet and enjoy them privately. Not at all. We are given good gifts so that we might bring glory to Him.

But I believe the gifts and talents that God gives us also can serve as the platform from which we can share the source of our hope and joy and, ultimately, to point others to Him and Him alone. I believe (with all my heart) that He is calling His Bride to RISE UP and be who He created her to be…OUT LOUD.

In all these things we are given a grander purpose to glorify His Great Name and when we do this, when we join in His chorus of praise, we join something bigger and greater and grander than ourselves. And when we do this, we MUST invite others to join in the song, too. We are the Bride of Christ…we MUST come. We MUST invite others to come.

One part of this vision is to offer a Planting Roots choir. When you come to a Planting Roots Conference, you will experience fellowship with other military women, encouragement, and resources to strengthen you to thrive wherever God has planted you. But there’s more, ladies. So. Much. More.

After you have heard, and seen, and experienced all those awesome things, you will have the opportunity to take it one step further. To gather yourself up to your full height and move your feet. We don’t want you to go home without the greatest gift yet–the invitation to come and join in the song of the Redeemed–and to go home with that song upon your lips and hearts, prepared to share it with your families, communities, and places where God has planted you.

So when you register for a Planting Roots Conference, know this: You are not just coming to be filled. You will leave prepared to pour out – for His Great Glory and renown of His Great Name! Hallelujah! Amen!

When you register, be sure to sign up to join the choir. It is our hope and vision that we will raise up a chorus so loud and mighty that the walls will shake with the sound. Now, how exciting is that?!
